Every single registered domain has at least 2 Name Server records which show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain to the servers of a specific website hosting company. That way, you have both your website and your e-mails handled by the same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there is a variety of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one shows which server manages the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server manages the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, when you enter a domain address in your Internet browser, your request is forwarded through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you will be directed to the servers of a different provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having different records for the site and the e-mails means you may have your website and your e-mails with two different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Website Hosting

If you have a shared website hosting from our company, you're going to be able to see, set up and modify any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. As long as a given domain has our Name Servers, you're going to be able to change particular records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or emails pointed to any other service provider if you'd like to use only one of our services. Our state-of-the-art tool will even enable you to have a domain hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main Internet domain the slightest bit. If you choose to use the email services of another service provider and they want you to create more than 2 MX records, you can easily do it with simply a couple of mouse clicks through the DNS Records section of your CP. You may also set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, included with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will permit you to view the A and MX records for any of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if required, to update any of them or set up new ones. Controlling these records is very easy because all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes just a couple of more clicks and in case you experience any problems, you can check out our educational videos on how to create A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet sophisticated enough to give you 100 % control over all records and to permit you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're switching your emails to a different service provider and they ask you to set up more than 2 different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
